National Assembly size shrinked
Thimphu, Feb 7: The constitution draft committee has suggested revision in the number of seats allocated for the National Assembly, down to less than 55 from 75.
The draft constitution had stated that the lower house National Assembly would have 75 members with each dzongkhags having maximum 7 members and minimum 2 members.
Chief justice Lyonpo Sonam Tobgye, who is also the chairman of the constitution drafting committee, said revision has been made owing to population figure of the country. The latest census had found out that the country's total population is around 530,000.
The seats will, however, not be less than 40. Bhutan News Service
