More roads in the east
More than a dozen additional farm roads have been proposed to be constructed in the six eastern dzongkhags in the 2007-2008 fiscal year.
A total of 124.6 kilometres or 13 farm roads were planned for construction last year in the six eastern dzongkhags but not a single road was constructed.
Lhuntse dzongkhag would get five roads, Pemagatshel three, Mongar, Samdrup Jongkhar and Trashigang would have two farm roads each and Trashiyangtse one.
The International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) and the government had allocated Nu.195 million for these farm roads. Other farm infrastructures like power tiller tracks and irrigation channels would also be covered by the fund. Bhutan News Service
