A survey conducted by the Senior Citizens of Bhutan (SCB) led by Harkajung Subba has shown that as many as twenty-thousand Bhutanese refugees still want to return home.
SCB with support from few other exile-based organizations including the Human Rights Organization of Bhutan, had urged the compatriots to fill out a form, asking them to indicate if they wanted to return to their homeland. The campaign that started on May 4 has been recently concluded.
The campaigners are planning to submit the signatures to the UNHCR and the governments of Nepal, Bhutan and India, including other concerned bodies.
go ahead
GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.
once i went through this news i felt sorry that only twenty thousand refugees from exile have shown their intrest to repatriate….why not 80 thousand?who are they and where they want to go?why have they spent so long terrible life in refugee camp if they were not willing to be back to their motherland?
Even if such campaign would be taken in third countries where our people have already begun their new life there would be 99 % longing to have their dignified repartriation.my concern over the matter is our history should be alive…..we should not hide from the history we have to make history.we should never quit we should never surrender because it is a battle fought for the justice, liberty and soverginity.we were,we are and we should be bhutanese ever and after…..that is our genuine identity.
Repatriation was the sole demand of all the Bhutanese refugees. The persistent try for repatriation is the hope which never wane from the minds of Bhutanese people.
In the States, we all (family)are working and earning a decent income as such there is no dearth or shortages of any things ,but lately my mum says she like to eat the products from her own farm and drink the milk from the cattle raised and groomed by herself. Actually, she is reflecting the life back in Bhutan ,which means she is still opting for the repatriation rather than to be engrossed in the taste of materialistic world.
This demand of my mum can only be fulfilled if we can set foot in Bhutan by chance. Although, it is a far cry, but everybody desired to go back to Bhutan where we belong to. But the RGOB(Royal Govt. of Bhutan) totally crushed the wishful thinking of thousands of people like that of my mum. We made a long wait just for that, now when the mass understood the cruel design of RGOB then the people accepted the TCR which was the only alternative.
Repatriation was the only solution but I knew it will never take place any time soon. So the only option was to opt for the TCR. And I know this will bring warranted blessing amongst the resettled Bhutanese. We are right and the regime is wrong. So, the right will prevail upon.
Thanks
