PDP women flap wings in Mongar
Thimphu, January 10: As the floor gets warmed up for the lower house elections scheduled in March, the parties begin to wake up their sister wings.
A group of women aligned to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) yet not named, led by Bidha, reached Mongar this week to garner support from the women for their parent party.
Reports from the district say, some 1,500 women had attended the gathering.
The women leaders stressed the importance of women role in politics and changing the social practices.
The women leaders assured the local women that PDP will allocate two ministerial positions from women if it won the election.
While the women were complaining the problems facing in their locals such as divorce and the abandonment of old people by their children, the women leaders focused their lectures on winning the majority in the National Assembly.
As usual practice in other such events, the attendees were served with lunch. Bhutan News Service
