Nepal government contradicts with the third country settlement
Kathmandu, March 22: The head of the European Union (EU) delegation, Neena Gill, who arrived Nepal from Bhutan, said that Bhutan was ready to begin bilateral talks and process of repatriation from the same point where it had stopped earlier.
After the delegation met Nepalese DPM and Minister for Foreign Affairs K. P. Sharma Oli Wednesday, Oli stressed on holding final round of talks with Bhutan. Oli also said that the news regarding government’s formal approval for third country resettlement was reasonless. “The government is yet trying to sit for talks with Bhutan”, he added.
However, during the meeting with the delegation, Nepalese prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala said if western countries willing to take some exiled Bhutan and if exiled Bhutanese wish to go for third country settlement, the government of Nepal would not be any more problematic in the process.
The EU delegation is also scheduled to meet exiled Bhutanese leaders and visit camps in Jhapa and Morang during their four days visit to Nepal. Bhutan News Service
