Leaders meet Gill, discuss on current situation
Kathmandu, March 23: The head of the European Parliament delegation, Neena Gill, who arrived Nepal from Bhutan, has met leaders in exile on Friday to discuss the latest development in camps at Hotel Hyatt in Kathmandu.
According to Balaram Poudel, one of the delegates, from Bhutanese Movement Steering Committee (BMSC), they urged support and solidarity of EU for Bhutan democracy and repatriation process of exiled Bhutanese.
The Bhutanese delegation including Tek Nath Rizal met Gill before the latter is scheduled to visit camps. This is the third time that Rizal has met Gill.
Meanwhile, prior to BMSC delegates met the European Parliament delegates, Ratan Gajmer, Coordinator of Association of Human Rights Activists (AHURA) – Bhutan also met Gill.
Gajmer talking to BNS said he strongly sought the attention of EU towards extending its support for opening all possible options. He quoted Gill as saying that the recent US offer of third country resettlement is an opportunity.
“ I also made Gill aware that the EU should help for promoting people’s right to return home for those who are going to opt for the option of third country resettlement”, he said. Bhutan News Service
