HUROB concerns discrimination in Bhutan
Birtamod, February 14: Human Rights Organization of Bhutan (HUROB) has expressed surprise at the indifference of the UN agency in Bhutan over continuous discrimination of the Bhutanese on the bases on caste and political involvement.
HUROB chairman S B Subba, after his week-long visit to areas in southern Bhutan, said the ongoing census and citizenship certificate distribution in Bhutan would surely make thousands of citizens stateless.
"The government campaign of seizing previous (citizenship) certificates and not issuing new ones to those having relatives in camps in Nepal, are again going to make around 50,000 people there stateless," Subba said. Bhutan News Service
