Government revises labor laws
Thimphu, June 16: The government has made little changes in the draft of Labor Law providing more annual paid leaves to workers government and private sectors.
According to new revision, annual paid leave will be 30 working days replacing 12 days maintained earlier. Similarly, sick paid leave will be 10 days in a year.
Revising the earlier provision of 1.5 months for three child maternity leave, government and private sector reached an agreement to provide two months of maternity leave for two children encouraging couples to have less children.
The agreement has been reached between the labor ministry and private sector after several rounds of discussion in Thimphu, Phuentsholing and Gelephu.
The provident fund rate will be at 5 percent contribution from both employer’s and employee’s sides. Bhutan News Service
