450 begin new life under resettlement (Resettlement)

Kathmandu, May 13: The statistical figure of exiled Bhutanese being resettled in different countries under the third country resettlement program as of Sunday reached 450, said a weekly radio-program run by Communication Corner that quoted an unnamed source at the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

A total of at least 150 individuals from Morang-based Sanischare camp have topped the figure in descending order with only two individuals from Timai camp.

Similarly, the figures of individuals already resettled from Beldangi-I, Beldangi-II and Beldangi-II Extension include 110, 75, 30 respectively. 35 each individuals from Goldhap and Khudunabari have already left for third countries.

So far United States of America has resettled 310. Similarly, 50 have reached New Zealand followed by 32 in Australia. Canada and Norway have resettled 15 and 10 respectively.

Amongst those already resettled, permanent resident under Tshirang district while in Bhutan have topped the list numbering 180. IOM has resettled at least 100 from Sarpang district followed by 85 from Dagana.

Meanwhile, 45 inhabitants of Samtse along with 10 from Samdrupjongkhar and five from Chhuka districts have already begun new life in third countries. Bhutan News Service
