35000 declare interest for TCR, 704 already departed (Third Country Resettlement)

Kathmandu, May 30:  A highly placed source at United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) disclosed that until yesterday 35, 080 exiled individuals from Bhutan have declared their interest of Third Country Resettlement (TCR) program.

"We have received applications from 35, 080 individual Bhutanese so far for resettlement", quoted the source.

In a response to query from Bhutan News Service (BNS), the UNHCR representative informed that altogether 704 individuals departed from Nepal for safe relocation.

Though exact figure is unavailable to BNS, UNHCR confirmed that exiled Bhutanese have reached to various seven countries such as Australia, Canada, Denmark, New Zealand, Holland, Norway and America under TCR program. Bhutan News Service
