Resettled Bhutanese play friendly volley ball match (Sports)

California, May 29: Members of California based Bhutanese communities and Nepalese well-wishers donned their athletic gears in a friendship volley ball tournament to mark Memorial Day on Monday.

Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May, and honors American men and women who died in military service to their country.

“Bhutan Team” was one to contest in the tournament. Newly resettled exiled Bhutanese, T. N. Nepal managed the team. BACC sponsored the team to introduce young Bhutanese youths and currently resettled exiled Bhutanese in the community.

Dozens of Bhutanese including those newly resettled here and hundreds of Nepali friends from the bay area participated in the event held at the Washington Park of Alameda. Besides volleyball tournament, female and children enjoyed fun games in the event.

The Alameda Volleyball Team organized the tournament in collaboration with Bhutanese American Community Center (BACC) and Motherland Nepal. Altogether different eight teams contested for the victory.

"This event is just one of the many ways of working together and creating a strong community bond between Bhutanese and Nepali communities in the bay area", expressed a participant of the tournament.
