Kathmandu July 9: Bhutanese Movement Steering Committee (BMSC) has expressed deep concern on frustrating camp situation and negligence of concerned authorities towards sit-in program that has been ongoing since June 2 in front of teh UN House and SAARC Secretariat since June 27.

According to the release issued by committee spokesperson Thinley Penjore on July 7, the UN Office received the memorandum and assured to get the response in two weeks time. “Up until commencement of the ongoing sit-in program, no worth mentioning attention has been given for resolving Bhutanese refugee imbroglio”, it stated. BMSC blamed SAARC member countries except Nepal, for not speaking about the Bhutanese situation.

BMSC also made aware of increaing frustration in camp youths who have completed secondary education and remained back without any further educational opportunities. The release further stated “Having failed in the bilateral process, these youths look forward to alternative programs that could help bring about an amicable solution to the protracted Bhutanese refugee imbroglio. Should the ongoing efforts fail to bring about any positive approach towards resolving the Bhutanese refugee crisis, Bhutanese frustrated youths entering into alliance with regional anti-social elements cannot be ruled out.” Bhutan News Service
