Rizal seeks European help for repatriation
Kathmandu, July 17: Bhutanese Refugee Representative Repatriation Committee (BRRRC) and Bhutanese Movement Steering Committee (BMSC) jointly handed over a memorandum to European Parliament delegation which is currently on Nepal visit on July 17, urging them to help in the repatriation. process.
According to Tek Nath Rizal, who signed the memorandum, Coordinator of Bhutanese Refugee Woman Forum (BRWF) Garima Adhikari, BMSC In-charge Mukti Gurung and six other dharna participants handed over the memorandum to the delegation led by South Asian affairs in-charge of the Euperan Parliament Neena Gill. The memorandum has strongly sought concern from international community on refugees’ plight. It has also urged European Parliament to extend support to return homeland with honour and dignity.
Similar memos were handed over to UN country representative and SAARC General Secretary separately earlier, however, no response has been received yet.
More then five dozens exile Bhutanese led by BRRRC are currently under sit-in program in front of UN office and SAARC secretariat for the last one month and more demanding early repatriation, but to no avail. Bhutan News Service/Desvakta Mishra
