2008 election preparation underway in Bhutan

Thimphu, July 17: The preparations for 2008 election in Bhutan have begun with collection of citizenship identity cards from public and registering thier names in the voters' list

According to government sources in Thimphu, voters are suggested to register their name before July 31, 2006.

The recently formulated election regulation allows 16 years and above citizens, as of January 1, 2006, to cast vote. The data they have on geog should exactly match to prove voter’s authentic right to cast vote, officials said. Bhutan News Service/Binod Sanyashi
