PM wife completes maiden visit to India
New Delhi: A Bhutanese women delegation led by Rinsy Dem, wife of Prime Minister Jigmi Thinley, completed a nine-day long visit to India on Monday.
The first of such women delegation from Bhutan to visit India had arrived Delhi on February 1 on the invitation of government of India to study rural development projects undertaken by India.
The eight-member delegation directly rushed to Rajasthan upon arrival on February 1 and returned to Delhi on February 3. During its stay in Delhi, the delegation held interaction with local NGOS working for the underprivileged children, a member of the delegation told Bhutan News Service. On February 4, they visited the orphanage that sheltered orphan children with AIDS and shared lunch with them.
On February 5, the team drove to Harayana and on 6 to Banaras. Before returning to Delhi Delhi, the team also visited Budh Gaya. The whole trip remained secret for both Indian and Bhutanese media inside the country
