PFHRD welcomes US offer of resettlement

Kathmandu, October 12:Peoples Forum for Human Rights and Development (PFHRD) Bhutan welcomed the recent declaration of US government to resettle Bhutanese refugees in America.

“This is a positive development towards ending this long pending humanitarian problem. To live in refugee huts for such a long time without any guarantee of dignified repatriation and future is not only painful but is also a waste of highly productive human beings” stated the release issued by its General Secretary S K Pradhan.

It further stated that PFHRD is grateful to US government for this offer of resettlement.

It also stressed that the rights of return of those refugees who want to return to Bhutan should also be respected by taking up their issue with the Bhutanese government. Bhutan News Service
