NFD- Bhutan hails Nepal govt's policies on refugee issue
Kathmandu, July 10, 2009: The National Front for Democracy (NFD – Bhutan) has hailed the recently publicized government policies and programs of the government of Nepal concerning Bhutanese refugee issue.
“The government’s policies to stand on favour of dignified repatriation of exiled Bhutanese has made us happy”, reads the statement issued by NFD president Balaram Poudel, adding it should be brought to practical perspective.
The statement has further said that the international communities floated the option of third country resettlement, as there were no strong measures taken to expedite their demand to return home.
NFD – Bhutan has accused the government of Nepal for not having a good homework done to resolve the issue through bilateral talks with Bhutan. It has also demanded the formation of a permanent task force.
The statement came after Nepalese president Dr Ram Baran Yadav while presenting the policies and programmes of the new government at the legislature parliament Thursday, said the government would take and stance of refugee’s return home process.
NFD- Bhutan has further called on the international communities to extend support and solidarity for their fight for the establishment of democracy in Bhutan.
