Minister's son dies in accident
Tamil Nadu, January 02: The son of health minister died when a car ran over him after his motorcycle hit another car at Kalputhur in Tamil Nadu, police said today.
Ujjan Janyang, the 22-year-old son of Health Minister Jigme Singay and a student of the Vellore Institute of Technology, was travelling on the motorcycle with his German friend Michael Randal (25) from Chittoor to Katpadi, 150 km southwest of Chennai, when the accident occurred early yesterday.
The motorcycle hit an Ambassador car at a turning near Kalputhur, throwing both men on the road. Another car passing the turning then ran over them at 2.30 a.m. yesterday, police said.
Janyang died on the way to hospital, while Randal was admitted to the CMC Hospital in Vellore, they said.
The Ambassador car's driver registered a complaint with police in Katpadi, while the driver of the other car fled after the accident. Bhutan News Service
