Jigmi’s first foreign visit starts from Delhi (Politics)
New Delhi, July 12: Prime Minister Jigmi Thinley is likely to begin his first foreign visit after assuming the office of elected head of government, next week with first step in India – the God father for Bhutan.
He will go to India for four day visit during which the bilateral relations and issues of regional interest will be discussed.
A statement issued by India’s external affairs ministry reads, “India and Bhutan share a very special relationship which has roots in our history and culture and has found new dynamism in mutually beneficial cooperation.”
The Bhutanese delegation led by Thinley, which plans to land New Delhi on July 14, comprise of Minister of Economic Affairs Khandu Wangchuck, Foreign Affairs Minister Ugyen Tshering and Finance Minister Wangdi Norbu.
The delegation will hold meetings with Indian Prime Minister Dr Man Mohan Singh and other senior officers and political leadership. Bhutan News Service
