Indo-Bhutan car rally starts
Kakarvitta, March 05, 2009: The second India-Bhutan friendship car rally started at Siliguri in West Bengal on Wednesday, delayed by two days of the earlier schedule.
Organized jointly by Indo Bhutan Friendship Car Rally Association and India-Bhutan Foundation, the four-day rally is part of the coronation celebration of King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk.
The organizers say it is a friendship event between India and Bhutan but is given international status by the Federation.
The rally will cover a distance of 300 km in India and 200 km in Bhutan. Indian sector includes distance between Jaigaon and Siliguri while Bhutan sector includes distance between Phuentsholing and Thimphu.
Organizers hope that the rally will further strengthen the ties between the two countries. Participants of the rally include 35 from India and 15 from Bhutan.
