Indian PM to visit Bhutan
New Delhi, May 13: India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to arrive Thimphu for friendly visit later this year as the country prepares to go for a democratic set up.
This will be the first visit of the head of the Indian government in over a decade.
Dates are not fixed but with the invitation handed over by new king during his visit to India in February to sign the new friendship treaty, the officials for both the countries are in contact to finalise a suitable dates.
PV Narasimha Rao was the last Indian prime minister to go to Thimphu in 1993.
Not only Bhutan, Indian PMs have not paid visit to neighbouring countries for the last eight years. And the new phase of visiting the neighbors is set to begin from Bhutan. Bhutan News Service
