Ideological differences hit dharna

Kathmandu, July 18: Representatives from all sectors including deputy camp secretary and Camp Watch Team (CWT) member of Beldangi-II camp have arrived Kathmandu on July 18 to study about the outcomes and weakness of sit-in program in front of UN House and SAARC secretariat in Nepalese capital of Kathmandu.

According to Tara Phuyel, sector head of sector 'E' people, especially in Beldangi-II, have been confused over the outcomes of dharna after their camp secretary Hari Adhikari Bangaley informed that Rizal was unable to accommodate him in the program. Talking to Bhutan News Service Phuyel said, their team is here to investigate the right messages.

Bangaley has been campaigning for third country resettlement since last year stating repatriation was impossible.

Deputy camp secretary Parbati Biswa informed that besides dharna they also met Nepalese ministers to discuss about felling trees inside camps since administration in Jhapa turned deaf ear to their request.

Sector heads including CWT and Deputy camp secretary (team of 11 members), who are reported to have come with donated aid from public will be back to camp within five days, sources said.

Ideological differences within dharna participants and camp representatives including Bhutanese Refugee Representative Repatriation Committee (BRRRC) and Bhutanese Movement Steering Committee (BMSC) members, have led to confusions in dharna. Many participants are reportedly known to be unaware about specific demands put forward by BRRRC. One of the participants on condition of anonymity told Bhutan News Service that still he does not know which organisation is leading the programme. "If BRRRC leads, why are there so many materials of BMSC as advertisements in dharna spot."

At a time when sit-in program is ongoing, Bhutanese Refugee Durable Solution Committee (BRDSC) is busy knocking the door of well-wishers to unlock all possible options. N. B. Giri, one of its members, said, Rizal's hollow sentiments and emotions of returning home without strong strategy would not meet the demand of individual Bhutanese.

Tek Nath Rizal, however frequently claims he is confident to make exiled Bhutanese return home with honor and dignity. He has been strongly opposing the package of third country resettlement from the time UNHCR country representative in Nepal Abraham Abraham out forward.
