GoN to grant 3 million monetary assistance (Update 11:55 AM)
Goldhap, March 02: Home Minister, Krishna Prashad Sitaula, who reached Goldhap camp early morning, assured immediate monetary assistance of Rs 3 million for fire victims.
Lutheran World Federation has distributed primary relief eateries to the displaced people. The distributed relief materials included biscuits and instant noodles.
Camp secretary Tanka Bhujel informed Bhutan News Service (BNS) that representatives from various organizations have reached the site. Protection Officer of UNHCR and different government officials paid visit to discuss the immediate relief package.
Man Bir Ghale, representative from Children Forum told BNS that the fire has displaced 2,624 children. "A handicapped girl, Chandra Maya Mahat, 14, has not eaten anything since the incidence", added he.
Bhutanese leaders in exiled, who rushed to the site this morning, included Narad Adhikari, S. B. Subba and K. B. Khadka.
According to Caritas-Nepal, which looks after education in camps, 403 students waiting for School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations commencing after two weeks and 213 students appearing grade eight-board examination from this week got their books and documents burnt by fire.
