Kathmandu, March 02: Bhutanese American Community Center (BACC), which is based in California, has committed a donation of NRs 100,000 to fire victims of Gopdhap camp.

Ananta Gurung, Executive Directive of BACC assured Bhutan News Service (BNS) that the donation to fire victims would be made available through Caritas-Neapl, Nepal Red Cross Society or UNHCR.

In a telephonic response to BNS, Field Director of Caritas Nepal, Fr. Verkey expressed that it would be better if BACC donation comes through Caritas.

"Almost all students appearing Certificate examinations have lost their books and copies", Verkey said. "These materials are to be replaced soon", added he.

"This is the first commitment that BACC has made to fire victims", said Gurung adding, "If exiled Bhutanese and well-wishers in the United States are ready to extend their helping hands, we'd do more through personal efforts".

BACC has expressed sadness over the incidence that gutted Goldhap camp yesterday.

The donation was approved by the board of directors of BACC Bir Thapa (Chairperson), Umesh Rai (Vice-Chairperson), Jiwan Subba (Secretary) , Milan Rana (Treasurer) and Ganesh Subedi (Advisor cum Member)

"I am very much thankful to BNS that uploaded news of fire in Goldhap camp," told Gurung appreciating its works and he regarded that BNS is the first medium to circulate such issue.

Like others abroad, members of BACC have been contributing for common cause to Bhutanese community. Bhutan News Service
