Fire gutted 1200 huts in Goldhap camp (Update 11 PM)
Goldhap, March 01: Fire that broke out in Goldhap camp destroyed around 80 percent of total huts.
Project director of Association of Medical Doctors of Asia, Dr. Nirmal Rimal, who was in the field until 10: 00 pm, informed Bhutan News Service (BNS) that 80 percent of camp has been burnt.
Rimal said that seven persons with minor burns and casualty were rushed to Mechi Zonal Hospital, Bhadrapur fr treatment.
Narayan Shrestha, District Superintendent of Armed Police Force, said more than 500 security personnel have been deployed to provide security to displaced people.
A reporter of Pathibhara FM, Damak informed BNS from the incient site that the fire was brought under control only at 10 pm.
“The displaced people are in terrible condition and are forced to spend night under open sky”, he said.
Jhapa-based Nepal Red Cross Society reached the site to render immediate help to victims. Nepal Police has tightened security in Goldhap camp to bring situation under control. Bhutan News Service
