Dozens injured in scuffle at Mechi (UPDATE)
Kakarvitta, May 28: The Indian police have used forced to put obstacle on the long march of exiled Bhutanese in Mechi bridge to stop them from going towards Bhutan on Monday evening.
The scuffle occurred for more than two hours from 6:30 in the evening in the Indian side.
The Sasastra Seema Bal of India, who has been dispatched in there in hundreds since Sunday, also made blind fires to disperse the agitators. The security group also used dozens of tear cells against the peacefully demonstrating exiled Bhutanese.
Leaders like Bala Ram Poudel, D. P. Kafle were injured and have been rushed to hospitals in Nepal. Over two dozens demonstrators, injured during the scuffle have been taken to hospitals in Birtamod, Bhadrapur and Dhulabari for treatment.
The exiled Bhutanese had repeatedly urged the guarding force to allow them to their homes but all their requests went in vain. Failing to receive support from the force of a self-claimed world's largest democracy, the exiled Bhutanese announced for voluntary arrest. However, the force denied arresting them.
After that the exiled Bhutanese as part of their long march to forcefully begin moving toward India.
After 8:30, the situation has come to normalcy. After their evening dinner, over 3,000 exiled Bhutanese have been sitting at the Mechi bridge blocking the border completely. Bhutan News Servce
