Centenary logo is out
Thimphu, June18: Bhutanese authorities have chosen from 164 entries the logo for the Coronation and Centenary celebrations of the wangchuk dynasty next year.
The two winning entries were from Bhutan Times Ltd., which won Nu. 100,000 and Jigme Loday, an artist with the education ministry, who won Nu. 50,000, government mouthpiece Kuensel said.
The chairman of the National Steering Committee for Centenary Celebrations, Lyonpo Jigme Y Thinley and Dorji Lopen of the central monastic body launched the logo on June 13, the report said.
Speaking on the significance logo features, Thinley pointed out that the raven crown, which stands out quite prominently and most befittingly represents both centenary and coronation celebrations, was an important feature.
"The 100 years, inscribed across the crown in Bhutanese numerals was the quintessential of five major and five minor knowledge classification of Buddhism with the two zeros depicting precious gems symbolic of the Fourth and Fifth Kings," the government newspaper said.
The five streaks of rainbow colors on yellow and orange backdrop, which looks as though radiating from the neck of the raven crown, inspired by the country's national flag, signifies the fifth succession to the golden throne. The white color at the bottom of the crown portrayed purity of action, thought and deeds of the two kings.
King's aunt Aum Yanki T Wangchuk, who is the finance secretary, said that they would register the logo as a trademark with copyrights vested with the government. Bhutan News Service
