BPUP members pull out of DPT
Thimphu, September 16: Most of the members of the Bhutan People’s United Party (BPUP), that merged with All People’s Party to form a new political group, have pull out to revive their plan.
Former Royal Advisory Councilors Sigay Dorji and D.B. Sinchauri, on Thursday told media in Thimphu that they have come up for reviving the defunct party and the declaration of the party would be made soon.
The dissidents have turned their position expressing dissatisfaction over the selection of candidates for the general elections early next year. Most of the members of the BPUP are not given the tickets to contests.
The party leaders express commitments to register the party within the deadline. The party leaders also claimed that some members from the People’s Democratic Party will also join them.
The ministers in the DPT said withdrawal of the members would not affect the party activities.
Thousands of youths have expressed willingness to enter the politics through BPUP.
On the other hand, the DPT chairman Jigme thinly reached Khar-Yurung of Pemagatshel as part of his month-long tour of the eastern districts.
He and the DPT candidate of that constituency Zanngley Drukpa addressed the a mass of 300 people where they made no promises but assured to act of the grievances of the people if they led the government. Thinley said people’s interests would be the party’s priority. Bhutan News Service
