Bhutan bans China-made milk products
Thimphu, September 23: As the news draw world attention on child-illness in China cased by tainted milk, Bhutan government has imposed a temporary ban on the sale of all milk-based food products imported from China.
According to Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA) under the Ministry of Agriculture the ban will continue until further investigation is conducted including laboratory analysis.
“As a precautionary measure the BAFRA has done a thorough investigation of Chinese made milk-based food products which are on sale in the Bhutanese market,” the statement reads.
BAFRA said it found that there are a few products ranging from mainly chocolate sweets and cakes to milk tablets which all contain milk as their ingredients.
Government has asked all shops keepers and the public to refrain from either selling or buying milk-based food products from China till further notice.
