Addressing shortage of workforce
Thimphu, May 08: The government decides to establish a medical college to address the shortage of medical workforce in the country. The college will be functional within the next two years.
With the increasing reports of the shortage of medical workers in the country, the government has also directed the Health Ministry to reinstate retired doctors who can still serve efficiently.
This year, the government plans to hire more doctors and medical staffs and volunteers from other countries in the region including Myanmar.
Most of the medical staffs in the country are working as interns.
The education sector is also facing similar shortage of manpower and school infrastructures. In many districts, children study outside the school building and a teacher has to cover lessons in numerous classes.
The education ministry, as per the decision by council of ministers, said it will recruit over 220 teachers and accept more volunteers. Bhutan News Service
