Thimphu, February 26, 2009: The newly appointed secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Kinley Dorji has assumed his duty at the ministry on Tuesday.

Dorji was managing director and chief editor of Kuensel newspaper before King appointed him as secretary early this month.
Having Master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York, Dorji started career in Kuensel as a reporter and rose to the position of chief editor and subsequently the first managing director of the corporation as well. On December 9, 2006 he received red scarf from the fourth king.
His appointment to the ministry comes at a time Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority, a media regulatory body under the ministry of information is in array of wrangles with Kuensel and Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation.
His future activities will determine how committed he is for promotion of freedom of press and freedom of expression – the essential component of democracy.
We are very much fortunate enough to have you in our Ministry and we would like to welcome you to our department with heart full of Trashi Delek. Further, we as a journalist have a great expectation to lead us through the proper guidelines under your skills and experiences of the low and ethic of the Media.
