UNHCR condemns IOM bus attack (UNHCR release)
Kathmandu, May 6: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and International Organization for Migration (IOM), issuing a joint statement, have today condemned the attack on IOM vehicle near Khudunabari camp.
The release stated that IOM and UNHCR condemned the attack on IOM bus on Monday by some masked men near Khudunabari camp, which resulted bus driver and two exiled Bhutanese injured.
"We are shocked by this incident and call for the apprehension of those responsible so that they can be brought to justice", said Daisy Dell, UNHCR Representative in Nepal.
David Derthick, IOM Chief of Mission in Nepal expressed the sorrow for those injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
The statement claimed that the bus was extensively vandalized with all windows smashed and the masked group that managed to escape the scene, also looted handheld radio of the driver.
The agencies said the investigation and hunt for perpetrators are ongoing. Bhutan News Service
