Two more rehab centers for drug addicts
Thimphu, January 21: The Bhutan Narcotics Control Agency (BNCA) says it will establish two additional rehabilitation centers in Phuentsholing and Gelephu for treatment of drug addicts.
At a function on Tuesday Executive Director of BNCA Kinley Dorji also revealed that may past drug addicts have started working with BNCA in advocacy and awareness programs.
Speaking on the occasion Health Minister Zangley Dukpa underlined the need to spread the impact of drug use, which is becoming a menace among the youth. He said use of drug is an impediment to GNH.
The project coordinator of United Nation on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA) Harshet said the program aims to educate people on the adverse affect of drug abuse as one of the main causes of HIV/AIDS.
He asked BNCA, ministry of health and Youth Development Fund (YDF) to work hand in hand to conduct an extensive research to find out the cause of drug abuse in the country. Bhutan News Service
