Nepal asks Bhutan for final talks on repatriation
New York, September 29: Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister K. P. Oli has urged Bhutanese Prime Minister Khandu Wangchuk to sit for final talks for settlement of the issue of Bhutanese stranded in UNHCR camps in Nepal for nearly last two decades.
During a meeting between the two leaders in New York on Wednesday, at the sidelines of the UN summit, Oli stressed there is no need of any kind of excuse or pretext to extend the bilateral talks. "Lets sit for last round of talks on repatriating the exiled Bhutanese," Oli told Wangchuk.
Pressure has been built on Bhutan from the international community for settlement of the crisis since frustration among the youths in the camp is growing, which may go out of control if the problem is not addressed on time.
It is learnt that Bhutanese prime minister did not respond to the request of Nepalese DPM. Neither Wangchuk took any attention towards the final round of bilateral talks.
Wangchuk had taken over the charge of prime minister only two weeks ago from Sangey Ngedup. Bhutan News Service
