Junior Jigme crowned, parties urge repatriation (coronation)
28-year-old Khesar was crowned this morning as head of state with grand celebrations throughout the kingdom that recently adopted so-called written constitutions.
Oxford-graduated Khesar received felicitations from high ranking officials and religious bodies, later followed by diplomats and invited guests.
The public functions are scheduled to start from 2 pm onwards.
A couple of days back, the Royal Monetary Authority released new Nu. 1,000 and Nu. 50 currency notes to mark the coronation of the junior Jigme. Bhutan News Service
Meanwhile, political parties in exile have asked him to guarantee human rights and freedom in Bhutan. In a statement released yesterday, National Front for Democracy has urged Khesar to repatriate the exiled Bhutanese immediately. Bhutan News Service
