Jigme Phuntsho tops BHSEC exams
Thimphu, January 31: The results of class XII for Bhutan Higher Secondary Education Certificate (BHSEC) conducted by Bhutan Board of Examination (BBE) have been declared on Thursday. Jigme Phuntsho topped the board exam.
Phuntsho, a commerce student from Jakar Higher Secondary School scored 89.25 percent followed by Sweta Giri, a science student from Yanchenphug Higher Secondary School with 89 percent
Sonam Lhamo, commerce student from Kelki Higher Secondary School scoring 88.75 percent secured third position.
Of the 5,510 students from 22 government and seven private schools appearing examination, 86.53 percent were successful.
Last year it was mathematics that made most students fail but this year most students failed in economics. Students did well in English, Dzongkha, Geography and Sciences.
Similarly, the class XII results for the Institute of Language and Cultural Studies reads 219 of the 251 candidates who appeared the examination passed.
This year, girls performed better than boys. 87.29 percent girls passed but only 85.96 percent boys cross the gate.
Shari Higher Secondary School, Paro has cent percent pass results. Bayling Higher Secondary School, Trashingang and Phuyum Higher Secondary School in Lhuentse also performed well this year. Bhutan News Service
