Ground made ready for celebrations (City)
Thimphu, October 13: As the day for mega celebrations comes closer, preparation go swing. Changlimithang stadium in Thimphu has been given its final touch making it prepared to welcome the new monarch this November.
Prince Jigyel Wangchuk, current claimant successor to the throne, inaugurated the completed stadium Sunday. President of Bhutan Olympic Commttee Kinzang Dorji accompanied him.
The ground, where first king Ugyen Wanghuck fought to eliminate his enemies opening up for establishment of monarchy in the country has been upgraded, renovated and expanded to give it a new look.
It took almost two years for the government to complete reconstruction of the stadium at the cost of Nu 223 million that now can accommodate some 25,000 people including a separate gallery for media. Bhutan News Service
