Demonstrators arrested in Phuentsholing

Damak, October 30: The Bhutan government on Sunday arrested more than 10 of the exiled Bhutanese who stated demonstrations in Phuentsholing demanding early repatriation.

According to the press statement issued by chairman of Human Rights Organization of Bhutan (HUROB) S. B. Subba, all of the arrested people are kept in the local police custody.

The HUROB and Bhutan Gorkha National Liberation Front (BGNLF) organized the demonstration jointly.

The arrested demonstrators include Aiman Rai, Hem Dhoj Tamang, Karna Bahadur Kafle, Ram Bahadur Rai, Bhakta Bahadur Tamang, Priti Man Tamang, Phurba Dorji Tamang, Man Dhoj Tamang Karna Bahadur Rai and Sangey Dorji Tamang.

According to the release, the participants were arrested after they demonstrated for more than half an hour at noon. They carried placards and banners stating 8-point demands including repatriate exiled Bhutanese to their land, we don't to go to America, we don't stay in Nepal, guarantee right to citizenships and others.
