Clearing Hinduism from Tsirang (Nation)
Thimphu, November 22: As part of the mission to eliminate the existence of Hinduism in southern Bhutan, Buddhist lamas have concluded a massive Buddhist festival in Tsirang.
Called the pooja for world peace, which will end Saturday, such offering is being held in the district for the first time in Bhutan. Chief of the Buddhist clergy je Khemp is chairing the festival. Bhutan has been promoting such Buddhist festivals in southern districts since 1970s.
Tsirang dzong has also been re-built and the Buddhist monks chanted hymns for its inauguration. The government’s administrative body for hits district will be operational from this dzong shortly. Bhutan News Service
