BJP chief cautions union government over possible militancy in Bhutan
Gauhati, February 23: President of the Hindu outfit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Raj Nath Singh has warned the central government of India that if appropriate measure is not taken on time, the influence of communist would infect Bhutan as well.
He said the increasing communist presence in Bhutan and the rebellion activities would a additional threat to Indian government if they forge alliance with armed groups operating in north-east Indian states.
Singh, who arrived Gauhati as part of the election campaign in north-east states, said the operation initiated by the Royal Bhutan Army in Bhutan against the Maoist militants inside Bhutan recently is condemnable. He said such act would pressurize the militants to seek shelter in Indian soil.
Giving instance of Nepal where the Indian government failed to suppress the rise of Maoist, Singh caution that similar situation would be created in Bhutan as well.
