Bhutanese delegation meets DPM
Kathmandu, November 02: A delegation led by National Front for Democracy (NFD) Thinley Penjor met Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister K. P. Sharma Oli on November 2 and discussed about the issues of the exiled Bhutanese and the forthcoming bilateral talks between Bhutan and Nepal.
According to Jagir Man Lama, General Secretary of the Bhutan Peoples’ Party (BPP), the delegation handed over an appeal to DPM Oli. Lama said that the appeal has strongly opposed the bilateral talks stating it would not foster concrete output.
NFD has also urged the concerned states to make public their strategies and modalities regarding recent offer of the third country resettlement.
DPM Oli assured the delegation that Nepal would always consider the consent and suggestions of Bhutanese leaders in exile. Lama, one of the delegates, further informed Bhutan News Service that they also urge Nepal for talks between representatives of the exiled Bhutanese and the Bhutan government in New Delhi.
The delegation is scheduled to meet other government officials and parliamentarians.
During the meeting, Oli informed that Bhutan government has expressed its dissatisfaction over the remarks made by him at the UN General Assembly last month. Oli said Prime Minister Khandu Wangchuk wrote to him expressing dissatisfaction over his remarks that the problem was primarily 'a problem between Bhutanese government and its people while Nepal was involved only to provide humanitarian assistance to the exiled Bhutanese.
