Bhutan least corrupted in South Asia
New Delhi, September 23: Transparency International (TI), the largest international body to monitor corruption across the globe, has raked Bhutan having less corruption in the region.
According to TI report, 2008 Bhutan has been raked at 45th position, further improving from its last year’s position of 47th. TI survey in 180 countries.
Bhutan scored 5.2 points in the TI measuring rod indicating a fairer environment. Bhutan is only the country in South Asia to get this point.
India positioned at 85, Sri Lanka at 92, Maldives at 115, Nepal at 121, Pakistan at 134, Bangladesh at 147 and Afghanistan stands at the bottom of the South Asia list at 176th position.
A country scoring below 5 points indicates serious corruption problem in the pubic sector. Bhutan News Service
