Bhutan Government imposes new media bills
Thimphu, July 22: Bhutan's Ministry of Information and Communications has brought new media bills after issues regarding the protection of Bhutanese journalist, limitation of the powers of minister, crossship and certification of films arouse.
According to official sources, the newly drafted media bill contains seven chapters pertaining to de-monopolisation of media industry. Similarly it also includes giving licence to private radio, TV and other related information and communication means.
Most of the operators in the industry has welcomed the bill which was prepared taking two years time. Bhutan News Service/ Binod Sanyashi
