Australian ambassador calls king
Thimphu, February 06: Australian Ambassador to Bhutan, accredited from New Delhi, called on King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk in Tashichodzong on Friday. He arrived Thimphu on Thursday on a weeklong visit.
Details of the issued discussed are given formally, however, strengthening bilateral relations on grounds of the resettled of exiled Bhutanese were primarily discussed, sources said.
Earlier, he called foreign minister Ugyen Tshering. He is scheduled to call Prime Minister Jigmi Y Thinley and Speaker of the National Assembly Jigme Tshultim before concluding his visit.
Australia is one of the major donors to Bhutan’s development projects and currently taking over 5,000 Bhutanese, under third country resettlement program, who were evicted in 1990. Bhutan News Service
