Open chapter in Bhutan, Rizal asks SAHR

Human rights leader Tek Nath Rizal asked the South Asian for Human Rights (SAHR) to coordinate for its branch office in Bhutan for monitoring the situation.

Rizal finds SAHR as the best organization as he claims it organized several conferences and published material on Bhutanese refugee issues. “It is well aware of the human rights situation inside Bhutan.”

Leader Rizal said so while presenting a paper at a three-day regional conference, ‘The Challenges FOR SOUTH Asia: Human Rights and Democracy’ ongoing in Kathmandu since Saturday.

Meanwhile, he said that the role of Bhutanese media in exile has not been recognized by international media organizations.

“The Bhutanese refugee community is proud of the media activism in exile,” he said, “Probably, no refugees have done the work of what our young journalists in exile are doing.”

According to him, encouragement and support for media activism in exile are essential. “We cannot depend on the totally censored media operating inside the country.”

He also asked the forum to pressurize the government to release exiled journalist, Shanti Ram Acharya. “Though his friends and organizations have been advocating for his release globally, I urge this forum to create pressure on Bhutan to recognize his journalistic status and free unconditionally.”

Strongly raising the issue of Christianity in Bhutan, Rizal said that it is a moral obligation of all powerful nations and human rights defenders to ask the government to find out the whereabouts of two Christian Bhutanese who have left their village for safety as they have been hunted by the security.

He also urged the international community, resettlement countries and Bhutan’s donors to speak on behalf of the Bhutanese Christians and pressurize the government to immediately release Prem Sigh Gurung, who was jailed due to his faith on Jesus.

Comment: My whole hearted applause to the concerns of our great leader in exile. Such thoughts and expressions make leaders acceptable to poeple of all faiths (other than Satanism).

  2. Its very easy to talk and hard to do, this so called leaders just talk and fill their bank accounts raised from the poor refugees fellow mates or either the donation dollars. They are all well setup, they dont care what those poor do and want who are lingering in the camps for over two decade. This scum who called himself a leader “Tek Nath Rizal” is no more a human, he have two houses and three wives in Nepal and he ask poor Bhutanese fellow mates not to accept TCR coz he will bring full democracy. The story contain in his book are totally baseless and lie “brain remote control” just get sympathy from ppl and sell his book so that his account grow thicker. If u are really Bhutanese dont even listern his words and accept TCR where ur life will be 1000 times better and you can make ur own living. Forget this bas**d.

  3. True Prabasi ji it is easy to blame and defame other. Your comment has vividly shown how best a human being you are. How kind you are for someone who gave up his life and spent years in jail under all possible torture. Think if you were him. TN Rizal has gone through torture not you so he knows about it. It was JL Nehru who went through this kind of mind control device. Have you ever gone through it, never because people like you have no time to read such things as you are busy critisizing other because you have no capacity to earn good fame through good works. Criticism should be constructive rather than destructive. I know Rizalji since childhood and attended Assembly at TashiTshoDzong when I was in grade 10. I have heard through my ears and seen with my eyes how he fought for the poor Bhutanese people. So whatever is written by Rizal is nothing but truth. Truth is truth. I am really sorry Mr Prabasi. I could not tolerate what you have commented on Rizal because he went through pain not you or me. He deserves respect.

  4. Prabasi ji,
You are great. Could you please give me the source to learn such noble vocabulary in english? Going through your comment I could measure your nobality. I know you have heard of Bhutan but not experience life in Bhutan. I don’t blame you coz you grew up such family and community where you could learn only negative. Fight against truth and good failure is sure. May your future generation comment on you in the same way.

  5. Pratik and Hikmat,
Its your way of thinking how and what you think of me? I am not against you and dont want to argue with you guys in anything. I am his relative and I know him since my childhood and I had lived with him when he was still a MP and was living in Thimphu, Changangkha. I saw his bad part and I wrote it and you saw his good part you write what you guys know and think about him. We are right on our own sides, but scolding someones family, is that your nobality? Whom will you scold and blame when I grew up in Tek Nath family? This is a open forum, we can write anything bad and good of someone, that will allow concern person to bring changes in his past deeds and corrects him to be a perfect person and a good leader.

  6. Going through your comments, it may take another generation for Bhutanese to learn and understand the situations. For me resettlement is only the option. It is only the solution to one of the symptoms out of many but not to the real sickness.
May be enjoying with full of excitement in the third world but I am sure that when done with explorations , you will be hunted my your own communities , neighbours and your own homeland. This is true in every human.
