Kathmandu, July 3, 2009: Four members from the family of human rights leader Tek Nath Rizal have flown to Canada on Monday under resettlement program.
Rizal is one of the leaders opposing resettlement process and still advocates for repatriation of all exiled Bhutanese to their homesteads.
Rizal family entered the IOM exit camp in Kathmandu on Sunday morning, 24 hours before flying. IOM allows such entry to families of political and human rights leaders and few facing threats.
Rizal, when asked, denied saying that his sons and daughter-in-law are flying under resettlement.
Details will follow.
This is what called two faceses of our leaders..they dont accept the truth and mislead the innocent ppl facing for two decade…they only wanna be safe and want others to face the consiquences..thank you Tek Nath Rizal..when are you flying to join your family..so called CANADA?
This is the right time to realize by all the innocent refugees that the leaders who have been advocating for repatriation is just the politics they played for the benefit of their family, not for the cause of the general refugees in the camps in Nepal.
This is interesting!
Hai
The final truth is out when his son flew to Canada for the resettlement. He was fiercely opposing the 3rd country resettlement and trying to convencience the people in the similar fashion and whole heartedly persuing the repatration which was just the gimmick. I really hate such people because they do one thing and speak differently.
Hi World,
The final truth is out when Mr. Rizal’s son flew to Canada for the resettlement program. He was fiercely opposing the 3rd country resettlement(TCR) and trying to convenience the Bhutanese community in the similar fashion and was pursuing the repatriation which was just the gimmick. I really hate such people because they do one thing and speak another thing. Why on earth Teknath rizal of that stature tell lie to the humble refugees, who are in fact, following him blindly ever since the crisis erupted in late 80’s.
I believe he would have been greatly revered, if he would have advocated for the TCR, after all the resettlement is the only tangible solutions for this festering problem. I voice not to let down people in future.
Thanks
Dear Lokendra,
I fully support your opinion regarding the dual politics of Mr. Rizal. Yes, he pretended as if, he is a diehard pursuer and promoter of repatriation but finally, he himself revealed the truth by not being committed to his words.
This is not the end of the story but the real tragedy started in the camps when the leaders were bitterly divided on the different opinions of resolving Bhutanese refugee crisis. Couple of people lost their lives due to this vary ideological mindset, floated amongst the refugees. Had there been a sincere effort from all the quarters, it would have been easier for all of us to attain the goal of repatriation or at least early resettlement.
I firmly believe that Mr. Teknath Rizal has logical answer to our common question.
Thank you.
Dasho Rizal,
It is time to face the reality. You supported third country resettlement when a delegate of people including myself approached you in Kathmandu. And I quote, you saying “This is the only final solution to our problem”. We believed in you and went further working on it. But I donot know what went wrong after that, you suddenly started opposing the idea of Third Country Resettlement. Lobing for resettlement is not opposing for repatriation. Repatriation can be done from any where in this world. But you never become clear on this fact.
Any way let me congratulate you for finally accepting the idea of resettlement. I would be more grateful if you show other people who believe in you the right way to the future. It is never late to accept the fact and move along. And further I would like to invite you to come to Australia for resettlement, as you already know how beautiful this place is to live.
Regards

Well, the last time I talked to rizal, he was all head over hills for 3rd country resettelment. A week later I found him hell bent on advocating for repatriation. May be now, he has fallen in love with Canada. As a fellow bhutanese, I would suggest him to join his family, shave his beard and live happily ever after.

Finally the truth came out…..I have no problem in Mr.rizal’s family getting resettled in canada or any other country. It is the compulsion of almost all refugees to get resettled no matter he/she was a leader or no not.Good.
One thing all bhutanese must believe is that the refugee leaders never wanted the sons and daughters of the innocent farmers to be better in the past or get resettled , most of the leaders even today advocate anti resettlement campaigns,in the process few innocent refugees lost their lives. But the so called leaders wanted their sons/daughters to be always in better position be in oppotunities, grabing facilities……..(long list goes)and follow their lagacies and lead the unorganised masses in the future. Now i hope Mr.Rizal will realize the bitter truth and stop misleading the mass .Hope for the best and good luck to Rizal for broadening the thinking style.
It is good for the sons and their family members of Mr.T.N.Rizal as they too got the chance to be resettled.I am sure Mr.Rizal might have understood now the need to go for the resettlement process.I wish for his good health.
I think it is not a problem for the Bhutanese Refugees when Mr. Rizal’s sons and other relatives goes for resettlement in third countries. The real truth just came out and this helps the general refugees in the camps to know that the leaders always used others to keep their politics alive. Let us hope the other so called leaders like Mr. Rizal who have been advocating anti-resettlement campaigns will also realize the truth and help the innocent refugees to freely and openly choose the better options.
This shows TN ji flying soon
Thanks for the Rizal families for supporting Resettlement Programme.
