Manorath Khanal talks to Sarokar from Arizona regarding a news story of BNS which said he was involved in registering a Nepali youth for resettlement. He says he is ready to face punishment if he is found guilty in the case. “I have got my propoer address, if the autority in the USA want me to arrest”, said he in the interview aired by Nepal FM , Kathmandu.

Namaskar to all Crews.I am a resettled Bhutanese Refugee from Arizona USA,a guy who recides in the same apartment where our president Manorath live.I am sorry to know that our President is going to be charged for his unfaithfulness and disgusting reward to UNHCR and IOM.He should be punished for his guilt if he is found guilt but I am unhappy with mr.Khanal that he said’people dont get job because they are not able to work’,what he actually want to say?In next sentence he said that all Refugees here are happy…………….!How dare this ‘NETA’speak all this nonesense statements?I know that every Bhutanese at this moment is trying to come to USA coz they dont have any other hope of life.But in fact We need to be more serious about this fact that America itself is in great economic crisis.So what will happen tomorrow?I mean after 3 months if they dont get a job here?because everyone has to pay rent after three months.mr Khanal may have forget that his sister and her family is kicked off from their apartment due to inability to pay rent.They are now Shifted to Arizona from their original state hoping to get help from her brother Manorath.Lastly what i mean to say through this comment is;if a leader is unaware of his people,and if the people are happy with GRAPES and ORANGES,What will be the future of those people who even dont know how to purchase it?????????

Dear All,
It is sad to note that people are feeling otherwise for the allegations and counter allegations made against each other. The third country resettlement is meant for the Bhutanese and not for the people other than the refugees. who spent their valuable time in the lowly degrading situation for more than 17 years as refugees with all the shortages in lives. After the strenuous stay in the camp the almighty has heard our prayers and made the resettlement possible.
When we are given this opportunity, I think we should take the advantage of this situation and move forward together to accomplice this task so that we can set foot in Bhutan sooner than later.
I strongly feel that this THIRD COUNTRY RESETTLEMENT( TRC) is designed for the Bhutanese who dwell in the Bhutanese refugee camps in east Nepal with unwavering loyalty as refugees. But I heard the hearsay that many non-camp residents sneaked in to the census exercise to claim for resettlement.
I also feel that it is the family unit who can identify and obliged to testify their sons and daughters before the census team as the true family member. It is almost impossible for the Camp Secretary to personally know and recognize all the camp populace.
I guess Phoolmaya and Mr. Shrestha might have made the deal on their own accord, and made Monarath as the scapegoat.
Monorath…should be punished under the internation criminal law..he seems to be involve in this activities..otherwise how can somebody instantly say that the victim received the money straight from Khanals hand..bring him to justic..forget where he come from…

Namaskar I’m one of resetteled bhutanese refugee of arizona, phoenix. Mr. monorath was elected as our presedent of bhutanese refugee in arizona. What I wanna a say is, if Mr. khanal was proved as guilty in this case, he must should have to get ponish.
hello,to every body i heard that mr.monaroth khanal ia elected as presedent of bhutanese community in phoenix.if all the people say that he has done crime how he became presedent?i guess that somebody is playing political thing as to show him scapegoat.and i also guess mr.purna (who loss presedent vote in phoenix with khanal)also have hand to show scapegoat of khanals…………………..if i have done mistake in naked truth thing give me parden.byeeeeeeee.
I also want to say as ramesh that, the group of bhutan communist party were organized this drama to make monorath as gilty in this case. It is only the drama in my view too.
No one has got any kind of power to punish Mr.Khanal in United States even if he has committed the above said crime in the camp,thats over.To punish Khanal in States he has to commit crimes in states too.Neither Nepal Government nor UNHCR can punish him too because he is no more under care and control of either party.If he took the money from Mr.Shrestha,he is Smart!!! Great!!!Not only Monorath all Camp Secretary have done the same thing in the camp and is still doing.
oh really!but i dont think that.and what that they asked question and what he is giving answer.but those who is in camp in big post and other nepali who is working in iom they all are doing this illigle things.and this man too doing in my point of view.they all think that refugees are cattles and that want to sell in any way.
There is a long history of refugees getting involved in selling their identity to Nepalese citizens and the refugee leaders getting involved sending Nepalese citizens abroad in the name Bhuatnese refugees for monetary gain. Let us not name these people or leaders here but they made money out of this business. And Monarath, in this case, had just followed the footsteps of his leaders, at an appropriate opportunity, if at all he committed this crime.
But I see Monarath as a small fish in the pond; the bigger fishes are Nepalese citizens working in the office of IOM. If at all someone is persuing to bring legal suits, then they must go against those officials in Nepal and subpoena Monarath as witness.
it is very sad to learn that nepalese citizen have tried to seize the right of innocent bhutanese refugee who have long waited in exile to regain his forcefully confiscated identity…nationality.as far as the manorath khanals involvement on this regard is concerend……..i strongly condemn it because it was not manorath khanal who carried out the census of one lakh and plus bhutanese refugee.he was in no way associated to bring out the census in camp.it was the joint and co-ordinated effort of nepal government and unhcr to verify who the genuine sufferer(bhutanese refugee) is.so i dont believe that it was so easy task for the camp secreatary to make nepalese as bhutanese who are known as opportunist in the world.it is transparent that if nepalese citizen was trying to slid america illegally there must be the involvement of nepalese authority.iam not backing up manorath khanal but i just want to be wise before we try to tarnish someone image and reputation who in someway could be a treasure of bhutanese community.lastly..if fair investigation finds his involvement he should and must be punished as per the degree of fraud he committed.

I closely went through the comments made by all the individuals. Many supported the his ideas and others opposed it vehemently. It is the human feelings to get various openions on one issue.Historically speaking the great Pandavas and Kuravas who waged the greatest war on earth also portrayed the bird (the target set by their superb mastro Philoshoper the “Dronacharya”) differently.
But knowing monarath for a long time,I think he can’t and should’t move an inch forwar to endavour such a misdemeanor.If that is true, it is a grave injustice committed for the camp folks.
Interesting thing, but the guilt will be shifted to the refugees at last due to the reason of practicality. Anyway, refugees are thought to be so desperate that they would do anything for a shilling.
It was very hard (in 1999) to convince the US government officials that the money they were spending on UNHCR (for the benifit of the refugees, of course !) was actually used to rape the helples refugee women (few were sick ???) . When, adequate proofs were produced, the US government had the Inspector General of UNHCR do the needful.
Therefore, it is natural that frauds and other types of excessess do happen on refugees often and UNHCR is not an exception either. A report says about 733 non bhutanese (and as such non-refugees) have either made well or are in the process of making it well for the greener pastures abroad.
Long live the Bhutanese resettlement program at Damak
If we’re broad enough to think and realize there is no question of headache regarding penetrating Nepalese citizens in the foreign nations.
Nepal who put at risk their fragile environment, economy and social fabric to provide refuge to thousand of Bhutanese refugees for 18 years is in reality the largest ‘donor’ to our cause. We must recognize the immense contribution made by Nepalese people and Bhutanese leaders move their concerns to the forefront of the agenda to the outside world. Think about India; what it did for our cause? Always be positive and think for greater cause!

It was really a painfull news for us esp.we who live in camp and waiting for resettlement that Monarath was accused of involved in resettling Nepalese youth instead of Bhutanese.It was me to take seriously at first to find out the fact as a media person but i didn’t find his involvement till now,bcecause till now non of concerned athurity has bcome sucesfull to find out reality.
I personally suppor khanal’s statement and ask him to again challange about blame.
i am so much happy to lision this progeamm do best ,i will say you to do best in future ,in future i think that it will carry the voice of all exile refuge people ,do best .it is good to all refugee

i being the residence of same camp where manarath was a campsecretary would strongly like to interrupt the statement against manarath and would like to support manarath.i too encourage manarath khanal to find the media which have published such news against him and give them challeng.
