Gelephu, May 30, 2009: King Jigme Khesar completed his weeklong tour to southern districts, inspecting the areas ravaged by the recent torrent rains. He turned to capital Friday.
In his on-foot tour, King Khesar visited the flood affected people and talked to them about the problem, besides inspecting the damages flood caused to physical infrastructure.
He walked from Umling (Lalai) to Manas area in Gelephu, looking the situation of the Mochu, Taklai, Lankhar, and other rivers, and villages in between them. These are the areas where resettlement took place in 1997 and 98 and rarely any Nepali-speaking people live. He avoided Chhuzagang (Danabari) where large Nepali population lives.
He then moved through Panbang through Drangmey and to see Tungkudemba, Gerong, Rebati and other villages, camped along the Darangchu for a night before heading to Shilangtoe village where he talked with students as well.
While returning to Thimphu, he visited the Sunkosh township in Dagana and flood-affected people in Wangduephodrang and Punakha.
I hardly know the kings in Bhutan visiting a Southern bhutanese village. so, this is not a big surprise.
King’s Visit
This news show that after the so called democracy in Bhutan, how racial bias the bhutanese ruler are.Bhutanese citizen need to fight for equality not for democracy right now. After having the eqality then they can figth for democracy.Minister from the south are just popet of the king. they are not working for the wellfare of Nepalese ethnic citizen in the country. This may be the first time bhutanese king had visited affected area whereever it may be.
Its not surprising that the “[….] king” does a [….] act. After all he has to toe his father’s footsteps. He might be an Oxford returnee but the way he acts and behaves he is nothing but a ‘frog of his tiny pond’. I say – be happy ye all Bhutanese!!! thank former king Jigme for throwing you all out. had he not done so all of us would have remained ‘kuwako bhyaguto’ forever. Now our brethren are settling all over the world. Lets gear to show that we are not just the backward ‘pahades’ but can be successful anywhere.
So don’t lament if the ‘[….]’ (khesar was born 7 years before his parent’s mass marriage)king overlooks to visit nepali settled villages.
You know some […..] never change. This is what I was trying to argue with our own harvard educted DNS Dhakal!!
