“I was told by doctors at Dharan that my wife had little chance of survival”, lamented Khagendra adding, “The doctors suspected gross negligence in AMDA-Hospital.”

The fact is not confirmed, said Dr. Rimal. “We have formed an investigation team for the case.”

A five-member-team of medical experts has been formed today that comprises Dr. Rajendra Shrestha, Dr. Shyam Budathoki and Bishnu Mainali from AMDA Birtamod, and Dr. Bhampa Rai and Dr. Beda Nidhi Khatiwada from the Bhutanese community.

According to Kamal Niraula, Sector-D sector head and medical volunteer at Camp Management Committee of Beldangi-II camp, Padma Lal Mishra, the committee was announced in presence of Camp Supervisor from Refugee Coordination Unit of Beldangi-II Deepak Bahadur Niraula, Basanta Thapa from United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR), Camp Secretary of Beldangi-II camp Naradmani Sanyashi, Armed Police Force Inspector Mahesh Bista and the officials from AMDA-Nepal.

We are very serious on this case since a young lady has lost her life, said Dr. Rimal. “We will investigate the case very seriously and find out what has gone wrong.”

“Chali Maya received regular follow-ups from our team, six times during her pregnancy,” Dr. Rimal told Bhutan News Service.

28-year-old Khagendra, who is just left with the baby, has appealed to the concerned authority including the UNHCR to independently probe into the matter and compensate for the loss.

  4. It is very bad news happened in refugee camps frequently. we request the concern authority to find out the wrong and resticate the doctors who wants to play and wants to learn more from serious case. if they get any problem they can forward the case but they didn’t. that is why every bhutanese died in their young age. plz avoid this sorts of dirty activities and treat good to the people of refugee camps and poor people too of local areas. they may done good for the nation or community in future. i mean no one is poor by their mind, but they are poor of money only. money is not a big deal for human being rather than their life to survive.
i express my heartful condolence for her soul in peace in heaven and pray to god to bear the unbeliveable monent……for her family, husband and every citizen of bhutan who are in nepal as a refugee.
Again we request the concern authority as well as nepal government and other agency to solve this sorts of problem in nepal very soon. Actually this problem becomes the huge problem for bhutanese refugee, poor people innosence people in nepal. Big warning for the doctors is that stop playing with the serious case of every human being. look as per ur capacity and courage only. i request the agency to look after the serious case of bel 11 chali maya. and look after her family who are in problem now. followsise for any inconvineance and have a peaceful life bhutanese camps as well as entire nation nepal. thank you .. monoj gorkhali. london England

  5. Dr. Rimal, it is not the first irregularities of health services provided by AMDA to bhutanese refugees. it is not wise and and responsible act to investigate the case after the death of a young mother. as a journalist, i have found several other negligience and rampamt misconduct of doctors at AMDA, to young females of child bearing age at pre-natal and neo-natal conditions. forming an investigation team and publishing report of royal massacre in narayanhiti palace did not actually satisfied the nepali mass, and no tangible result to repair the loss have ever been produced in nepal’s history. same is the case with mishra family who will never forget the damage done to them. doctors need to take more precautionary measures and handle those treatment which are within thier capacity of knowledge and skill.

  6. Have all these doctors been forming the investigation teams on all death cases? Certainly not. This proves that the doctor from Dharan has already indirectly stated that Mihsra died because of the careless surgery. This is not the first case on Bhutanese. I am worried how long these vampire like doctors wanna use the refugees as their devices for them to practise surgery. Hail! Every life is precious disregard of whatever identity and status one deserves.
