IOM as OPE established, government to tighten security
Kathmandu, July 31: The Home Ministry of Nepal said it would provide between 25-30 armed policemen for each of the seven exiled Bhutanese camps within a month to help facilitate the process of third country resettlement.
According to sources at the Home Ministry, the government had committed to beef up the security by the mid of July.
As per an understanding, the Office of the UNHCR in Nepal has agreed to construct buildings for police personnel (both APF and Nepal Police) inside each of the camps and meet some related costs.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt that the already established office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in Damak, has been selected as the Overseas Processing Entity (OPE) to assist people to migrate to the US.
The IOM was selected as the OPE by the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration, Office of Admissions, under the US Department of State to facilitate migration of the exiled Bhutanese from Nepal to the US. Bhutan News Service
